Kate Brown

Locally grown, Kate Brown is a professional art therapist and artist working in Saint John, NB. She creates art inspired by the beauty found in the mundane, simple, and ordinary. While also enjoying the funky and cartoonish creatures she can create. She is interested in the idea that familiar, everyday subjects can become unique when viewed from different lenses. She works primarily in watercolour, acrylic paint and drawing. She enjoys exploring the relationship colour, line, and visual texture can create. Her work is often informed by themes of memory, nostalgia, and joy, reflecting on the personal connections we form with the places, objects, and experiences that surround us.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts 22” from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. As well an art psychotherapy diploma from the Canadian Art Therapy institute Art Therapy. Through her practice, she aims to celebrate the everyday and encourage a closer look at the small moments that can hold unexpected beauty and meaning.
